Jen's Hooter Hotline #1

First of all, thank you for praying for me and for you care and concern. Ever since Friday when I remembered what a dork I am, I asked God to make it clear what I should do and that it needed to be explicit because....I am a dork. I waited peacefully this weekend until I could have two key appts with the Oncologist and the Plastic surgeon today. So, ten days after breast cancer diagnosis and swirling around in a sea of uncertainty about what kind of surgery to have, I am happy to say that I will be having a lumpectomy on Wednesday afternoon. Likely home later that night. Radiation will happen afteward, but a decision on chemo will stem from lymph node and tissue pathology. I will also get the new OncoDx tissue test done to further assess risk. The onlcologist said that I was a poster child for mammograms (because it found it so early) and a poster child for lumpectomies (because I have all the findings for the most success with lumpectomy). Today was a day full of gratitude for the level of expert care I was receiving. Rog and I are both very peacefull about the direction we are taking and the cracker jack team that has assembled around me. I am a very happy girl!

More to come...

love,
Jen

PS Don't be a boob, get your mammogram!
